Life is what we make it. It is our values that build our character and the life we live depends upon the character that we have built. Our educational system is not just to provide us with information, but to help build a character that can face all situations in life, sometimes easy and sometimes challenging, with dignity and noble values.
The greatness of the bhäratéya culture, our saàskåti, is in keeping firm the foundations of truth and right knowledge. The secret of its tenacity is in its adaptability over the ages. In the middle of the battle of Kurukshetra, we saw Shri Krishna doing exactly that. He incorporated the ancient, traditional knowledge of the Vedas by adapting it to the context, of the social structure of that time. Befitting of the times He packaged anew, the knowledge of life He gave Arjuna. Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji did exactly the same, by presenting the knowledge in a form suited to the times.
Life can be either a heaven or a hell. Eventually, it is the virtues developed through childhood, our upbringing and educational system, which go to build a firm foundation of noble character and behaviour. In turn, we have to craft our present in such a way that the future world looks up to this generation with pride in their bhäratéya heritage. Our educational system should lay strong foundations to build the character of our nation and make us proud of our ancient heritage.
Life need not be a cumbersome journey. When positivity of mind, teams up with calmness, purity and alertness, we not only understand and gain knowledge, but also get the wisdom to know how and when to apply it in life. Life becomes a celebration; and helps us to evolve. More importantly, by transforming ourselves, we help to transform the whole world.
