When ignorance in the form of a ten-headed ego Ravana, or a vicious Kamsa creates havoc, good people entreat the Lord to appear and save them. Accordingly, when divine people in society collaborate, or when all our divine thoughts come together and call out to the Lord – He manifests.
The Lord takes birth repeatedly to bless the world. He states, “Though I am unbound, imperishable in nature, and the Lord of all beings, yet, ruling over my own nature, I am born by my own maya.” Today as the Lord takes birth in our hearts, let’s embark on a guided meditation.
Sit straight. Gently close your eyes. Relax your body. Inhale deeply. Then, as you exhale slowly, release all the tension in your body. With each deep breath, feel yourself sinking deeper into relaxation and stillness.
Imagine yourself living in the dark chambers of your mind bound by the chains of identification and attachments of the ego – Kamsa – in a jail of five gates or five layers.
Acknowledge the presence of Vasudeva. Vasu means climate – the mind goes through many climates, many moods. But when this moody mind becomes the honest Vasudeva; when all moods are deva – divine – and the intellect grows to be Devaki (belonging to the Lord) – the mind and intellect become integrated.
Now united in their search for the Truth. They neither oppose nor distract each other; wedded in divine matrimony they remain in contemplation, seeking the Lord alone.
Now, drop all other thoughts. With full knowledge of who He is, with every breath, chant in your heart: Shri Krishna sharanam mama … Dwell in the space between thoughts; wanting nothing else, having no other goal.
In the silence between two thoughts, peep into the beyond. That revelation, that knowledge which takes place – that Consciousness is me. In this sacred moment, catch a glimpse of the Infinite, the enchanting blue Lord of the universe. Feel your mind expand beyond its limits, embracing the vastness of the Divine.
The moment, you discover that knowledge; is the manifestation of Consciousness; the birth, the direct knowledge of the Truth – the Avatar.
Once Bhagavan’s Avatar manifests, the chains of bondage fall off, and the doors open. Instantly, the darkness of ignorance is dispersed, all sorrows end. You are free!
But beware! The ego as – doubts, lack of faith, and skepticism – creeps in to destroy the little baby. For Him to grow and thrive, immediately, transport the divine child to the house of Nanda Baba and Yashoda. In the lap of devotion, that tiny spark of knowledge is treasured and allowed to expand into a conflagration. Shri Krishna defeats, vanquishes, or kills all the binding factors within us.
Putana, His first victim signifies all false misconceptions, expectations, and notions, collectively representing our ignorance. In their vanquishment, we make room for true knowledge and inspiration. Next to be eradicated is the inertia and materialism that entrap us. As the allure for materialism fades away mental agitations, unchecked desires, and passions are conquered. One by one, their influence is subdued.
Take your time and allow this imagery to unfold naturally. Live free from body identification, master the senses even while existing in this world, and attain the Divine. Be like Radha – transcend the dance of thoughts and merge into oneness with Krishna and achieve the essence of true meditation.
