Why CIRS?

Swami Chinmayananda noted in the 1970s“Never before in our national history did the best minds of India move out in such spectacular numbers to serve communities in distant foreign lands, living amidst different climates, social customs and cultural environments”.

He also noted that the children of these families experienced pressures and conflicts over moral values and cultural patterns. He conceived of a boarding school in India for ages 11-18 where students might have a chance to experience Indian culture and heritage before returning to continue their studies.

Foundation values of CIRS

At CIRS educational processes are designed with the premise that the future of this world rests upon the overall competence, sensibility and goodness of its youth. In raising children of quality and purpose, to make them the kind of citizens the world needs today, we have to educate them not only with excellent academic instruction, but also with all the attention and care that they deserve and need to draw out their hidden potential.

Children respond when they are cared for, when they feel safe, and most of all, when they develop a healthy sense of well-being. CIRS is committed to a continuous review of our approaches, functions, processes and procedures to create this sense of well-being.

The result is a school where the students are bright, confident and balanced individuals, in work and play. They cherish the love and nurturing which they receive and they respond positively. Many students comment that they feel as much a part of CIRS as they feel with their family at home.
